ASSISTED DEATH: ETHICALLY RESPONDING TO PATIENT REQUESTS FOR ASSISTANCE IN DYING

Six states plus the District of Columbia have some form of assisted suicide, however, this topic is not readily discussed due to religious, legal, and cultural issues. In states such as Missouri, where there are no laws pertaining to this subject, there is limited knowledge among healthcare providers about this topic or how to respond to patients requesting help with death.
